Argh! Barcelona Hotels - what is going on?

Okay, so i am trying to book a room for myself, DH and DD (6 months old). I am looking on expedia.com and tripadvisor.com

There are some hotels that we like and that are rated well in Maribel's guide, but when I go to book, and specify the age of my child (<1), it either says that "Exceeds max children" (makes no sense because there is only ONE child) or that "Min child age is 12 "

WHAT IS GOING ON? I am seeing this for most hotels. The only hotels I don't find this for are above $300 and we are trying to stick within $250.

Anybody have a clue? Why are they not allowing kids or not allowing kids under 12?

PLEASE HELP. How do I book Barc Hotels?

One example is Casa Fuster. I would like tos tay here and expedia says its available, but once again not for my kid.

Any other booking site I can use?

Try going directly to Casa Fuster's website (http://www.hotelcasafuster.com/defau...action=english). I did a trial, and had no problems there.

Are you going to need a crib? When booking rooms for my kids (who are older than yours), sometimes I need to email the hotel directly to confirm or clarify that we need one double bed and one single bed or cot; you may want or need to do the same thing if you have specific needs.

In any event, you may have better luck using the specific hotel websites.

Thanks Lexma - I tried that. However, I'm finding a SIGNIFICANT price difference (almost double) between the hotels' own website and expedia.

For example, for Casa fuster - expedia gives me $293 per night and the hotel's own website gives me 410 EUROS per night.

Anybody else have experience with booking 4/5 Star hotels with kids for under $250 in Barcelona?

That Expedia price is *extremely* low for the 5 star Gran Lux Casa Fuster-sounds like there's a catch-truly, a catch to this.

Rather than booking online, I would send an email to the Casa Fuster explaining your needs, but I wouldn't count on a $293 USD rate at this, one of Barcelona's priciest hotels. (but then you never know, given the financial crisis)

The new Hotel Murmuri has some very advantageous rates now (it's the new sister to the 5 star Gran Lux Majestic), located in the Eixample on Rambla de Catalunya. However, these rates are for a standard double, early booking, non-refundable and include buffet breakfast. But you would need to email them BEFORE booking regarding the extra cost of a crib.

hi manisha,

when I was looking at booking a hotel in barcelona [sad to say, that was a trip we have yet to make] I came across the Derby hotels, whose own rates are as good as any of the web booking sites.

www.derbyhotels.com

they seem to be pretty high quality for the price and there are 4 or 5 of them in the city.

regards, ann

Hi Manisha,
Yes, the Derby chain's online rates always match or beat any other booking site. The Derby "equivalent" of the Murmuri (but certainly not the ultra gorgeous Casa Fuster) would be the 5 star Claris in the Right Eixample. Their duplex suites, believe it or not, for the summer start at 150 euros-a special 25% off reduction.
