Arezzo to Venice for a day

We will be staying in Arezzo and wish to see Venice in a day.
Is is doable by car or train?
Can anybody suggest a guided tour to see the best of Venice?

Any way you can make this an overnight trip?

The train trip from Arezzo to Venice takes 3.5-4 hours each way and requires a change at Florence. A car would take even longer. For a day trip, I prefer no more than 2 hours each way.

tarlex, it just isn't a good idea. Florence and Rome are much easier to visit from Arezzo.

You mention a car, which leads me to believe that you might not be staying within Arezzo. By car or train there are any number of lovely places to see, but it may depend somewhat on whether you are in Arezzo the city, or somewhere in the province of Arezzo.

Thank you, thought I might have been pushing a bit too far.
We have a car and staying at Il Borro, in the medieval villagefor 7 nights.
I am hoping to visit Pisa, Florence, Sienna, Cortona, Orivetto on different day trips, or just take a day at a time and enjoy the surrounding area.

Hi Tarlex - Yes, it's a long day-trip - but I've done similar . If you won't be back for awhile and it's your only chance to visit Venice, I'd say ... go for it. With the 07.08 train you can be in Venice by 10.30 ...
