You could just look at the RATP website or
Navigo - Tous mes déplacements en Île-de-France Passes Navigo, forfaits et contrats, gestion
NO, they aren't "passe".

How old is your card?

"RELOAD YOUR NAVIGO CARD" pull down says:
"Your Navigo Découverte is good for 10 years. Hold on to it: you can reload it as many times as you need."

Thanks for all the replies. I can't seem to find a date on mine so I'm not sure whether it's 10 years old of not so I'll have to get it checked at a station. I'd forgotten about the validity from Monday to Sunday and several of the other complications of usage. On balance I'm thinking our needs will probably be best met by simply using carnets. Thanks for your help.

Julie, they now offer Navigo Easy cards which are loaded with 10 metro tickets, just like carnets, but you just have the one card. They are free and you load your carnets directly onto the ticket. Same price as a carnet. I believe they are transitioning to these cards to eventually get rid of the paper tickets.

Easy enough to exchange your old navigo for a new one. I did last summer: you'll need a passport photo and that's it.
