Archeobus in Rome & Catacombs

Hello all, I've been reading the messages on the Archeobus. Is it realistic to plan a half-day trip seeing the Catacombs of San Sebastian and the aqueduct? Is the aqueduct far from the drop off point? There are so many things to see in Rome...in limited time! What other "must see" is on the Archeobus tour? Thanks again....departing soon...

I'm sure you would learn more by taking the Archeobus with guide. However, We took a public bus to the Catacombs. We went to the Catacombs of St Callixtus and a priest at the Catacombs gave tours. If you want to go this way, you can for sure do it in a half day. Go in the mornings as I believe they close for lunch. (There are three catacombs and pulic transportation is available to all) website www.catacombe.roma.it

It gives info on the pick up and driop sites, etc.

Hi Bellarose and pj - I took the Archeobus Hop-on Hop-off tour about four Saturdays ago. I got on at the Piazza Venezia at 11 am. I got off at the Catacombs of San Sebastian and was able to get the English language tour which was starting within 20 minutes. By the time that finished it was about time for the next Archeobus (they come by every hour) but I decided to walk to the Tomb of Cecilia Metella - then by the time I walked back and around to the next stop, it was almost time for the next bus. I then continued on to the end which is the Aqueduct - the bus stops there for about five minutes - the guide ate her lunch there! I got back to P. Venezia around 3 and change so four hours were consumed. I felt the trip was very worthwhile. I had five nights in Rome - my second trip there. Hope this helps! Have a great time.
