Apartments in Amsterdam

I am going to be staying in Amsterdam for 2.5 weeks next month. I'm wondering if anyone could recommend some agencies that offer longer-term rentals. I've already looked at craig's list. There are some amazing apartments for rent but rather expensive. I'd like something above the quality of a hostel but it needn't be luxurious.

Also, a separate question, does anyone have any information or experience renting cell phones in Amsterdam? I'd be interested in places to do that, cost, etc.

Thanks in advance. I appreciate any help, suggestions, or input the members could offer.

Steve

Hi

Here's some. It's off season and your staying 2.5 weeks - try haggling for a cheaper rate!

Hi worldinabag,

Thanks so much for your suggestions. Unfortunately, none of these places has a vacancy for my dates.

I'll keep looking. Any other suggestions?

I dont think you would find a hostel open that you would wanna stay at. However, try some of the airline last minute hotel deals. an apt for an american is about 950. euro weekly, or at least the apts. i have rented. i have been in amsterdam for the last three christmas. and i will be there this year. Food and lodging will always be a problem in amsterdam. the pay as you use phone system from somewhere like HollidayPhone on the shopping mall near central station. it is like 20cents american a minute, you can get voice mail too, for a fee. but no cell service.
