Apartment Rentals
We are planning a trip to Paris in the Spring with another couple and are considering renting an apartment for the week to 10 days that we will be there. Where would be a good area to look at? Also, if anyone has any recommendations of sites or companies that handle this sort of accomodation, that would be helpful. Any words of warning are welcome too.

Thanks!

If you do a Google search for apartments Paris, you will get some hits that get you pointed in the righ direction. I am planning on renting an apartment in Paris also, for a month. One thing I have found in my research is that some prices include the price of utilities and taxes but some do not ; for the latter, you pay for what you have used which is determined by a meter in the suite (for electricity).

Good luck with your search!

We used Paris Connection and were very happy. Friends used Ville et Village and also were very happy. Contact a bunch of them and see which have what you want. Try going to www.anamericaninparis.com - he has a whole list of apartment rental agencies and some guidelines to follow when renting an apartment.

Decide on a budget, because prices are all over the board. In the 6eme, 7eme, 8eme, and 16eme, you'll find very upscale apartments (antique furniture, views of the Eiffel tower, etc.) for up to $3000 or more a week; the 1ere through the 5eme, the 9eme & 15eme have less expensive apartments, but you'll find the apartments are less chi-chi; the 10eme-14eme, the 17eme-20eme are more working class, so apartments can be had for much lower prices - i/o Louis XVI bombe chests, you'll store your clothes in Ikea armoires. These arrondissements are also further away from the major tourist attractions and fewer English-speaking people to be found. Personally, I like these neighborhoods (I usually stay in the 11eme/12eme area close to Nation) because I get more apartment (space, amenities) for my money and I'm also in the "real" Paris (no postcard/souvenir stores or "American" menus).

There are aparthotels like Citadines, with efficient motel-like apartments; there are rental agencies like nyhabitat-paris.com that represent private apartments (usually higher end, but not all); you can do a search on any web search engine and find lots of agencies AND private apartment owners.

Understand the amenities you want, what you'll get (like a washer/dryer is one machine; you might not get an American-style shower), and what it'll cost to get what you want.

I am renting one through www.vrbo.com (vacation rentals by owner) - I like the site because it has lots of pictures. Lots of the owners seem to have several rentals in Paris and some have their own websites, too. I got several replies and found one I liked at a reasonable price. I'll post when I return about if there were any problems.

We are staying at an apartment at this web site http://www.parisvacationapartments.com/

They have 3 studios in the same building, or you could go for a 2 bedroom. Read some of the feedback comments -- they even have a calendar of available days. Good Luck
