Apartment recommendation in Florence.

Husband and I will be in Florence 22 May 2016 - 25 May (5 nights). Would appreciate recommendations for apt. preferrably with a terrace for dining and view of Duomo or similar. Our budget is about $150/night. We are elderly and prefer to keep the walkups to 3-5 flights.

Will arrive in Florence by rental car and depart on train to Pisa for departure flight so would like to be within walking distance of train station.

We will be driving thru Tuscany/Umbria for 8 nights and want to base ourselves in 2 - 3 hill towns and explore from there. Recommendations for towns and B&B or apts. is very much appreciated.

Fodorites know ALL of the best places and deals so I am hoping you can help!

Grazie!

Here is one that I will be renting the next time I am in Florence:

I love Pienza and would happily base there for a few days.

Try Residenza il Carmine.

This is a bit above your budget, and you would need to be willing to take a taxi or bus to the train station, but the terrace view is tremendous. Don't have any personal experience of the apartment, so you would need to track down reviews.

You should take a look at airbnb as part of your search, and booking.com.

Elevator, terrace, walking distance to train...that's a lot to ask for in that price range. You might book Era apartments on booking.com , they are about 10 mins walk to the station. Free cancellation/no deposit while you continue to explore other options.
