Apartment in Rome?

My husband and I are headed to Rome in mid-May and are looking to rent an apartment for five nights. We'd like to be in the city center (Campo di Fiori, Navona, etc) area -- easy walking to most sights, as it's my husband's first trip to Rome. Our budget is 150 euros max, and we don't mind a studio apartment (we're New Yorkers and used to small spaces!). I'd love any recommendations!

Also -- any reccos for day trips from Rome while we're there? Perhaps to the coast?

Thank you!

Have you looked at sleepinitaly.com? Tons of options there. We paid €120/night (plus a cleaning fee) for their Piazza del Fico apartment (two bedrooms) in 2011. Loved the location.

We didn't do any day trips so I can't help there, except to say that you could easily fill all four full days in Rome if you wanted to. There's a trip report under my name if it's of interest - we were there 4.5 days.

I'd check a site like Venere or AirBnB. For Rome, there are certainly a few within your budget, just maybe not the close to the center. There are a few exceptions however. My wife and I stayed at the following last September. Its a studio but its super clean, with AC and a full kitchen. If this one is booked they may suggest other similar apartments. This was probably the best location we've stayed out of the three times we've been to Rome.

For a day trip, aside form the seemingly obligatory trip to Orvieto, I'd probably recommend something like Ostia Antica or maybe Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este.

We used Rome Capital Apartments in August 2012 and had a good experience. We needed a two bedroom for that trip, but this studio apartment has caught my eye for a future trip.

Check their apartment list for lots of other options.
