apartment in Nice
We are looking to rent an apartment in Nice for a week in Oct. The one we find most appealing is on the Promenade, about 10 minutes further along than the Negresco. Obviously a bit out from the main shopping and esp. dining zone. There is another further in but half the space - we are sharing with another couple. In your opinion, will we regret being a bit of a distance from the main restaurant zone. We are in our 60's, leisurely walking is comfortable for us but after a long day of touring, we might prefer a near by dining choice.

Buy transport passes, they are quite cheap, and then you can ride the buses along the Promenade. The passes will also cover travel outside of Nice.

I don't think it's the distance but the location. When I stayed in Nice, I was about ss far from the Negresco, but I was more towards the train station in a regular neighborhood. That's different than being on the way out of the metro area along a major highway. The gare is about 1.2 km from the Negresco, for example. But I wasn't that fare from rue Jean Medecin and public transportation and I was in a the city proper.
It isn't clear what you mean by 10 minutes, if that's by car or walking. Is it about 1 km or so? Or farther? Whichever, as I said, I think it's the exact location rather than the 10 minutes thing that would bother me.

but I think a sea view is going to be attractive, if the apt is really that much better, I think you can deal with the distance if it's only about 1 km from the Negresco. There are buses that run along there, although that could be a nuisance for every night but I'd look at Google maps and see if there are some restaurants within walking distance, there probably are.
