Anyone ever stay at Hotel Giardino - Roma in Rome?
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has stayed at this hotel. It is recommended in Rick Steves book - I have had mixed results with his recommendation. Appreciate any experiences.
Thanks,
Mary

I don't know this hotel but there appears to be 2 with similar names. The one poorly located one is the Best Western Hotel Giardino D'Europa. The other (which is probably the one you mean), appears to be in a good location near Trevi FOuntain and Piazza Venezia. If you do a google search on "hotel giardino rome', both hotels come up.

Hi Swissgirl. I'm not sure if there's a "Hotel Giardino - Roma" which is different than the Hotel Giardino. The Hotel Giardino I'm familiar with is a few blocks from the Quirinale Palace; is that the one you're considering?
I tried to get room there a couple years ago but it was booked so I haven't stayed there, but I did stop by just to give it a quick once-over and it looked fine for the price. While it certainly wouldn't be my first choice of location -- compared to, say, the Spanish Steps or Piazza Navona areas -- I think it would be perfectly fine.

Hi,
Yes, I stayed here in mid-November. I thought it was fine/clean (it is ranked as a 2 star) and certainly was a great value (60 euro/day including breakfast). I believe it only has 11 rooms. It's located on the second floor of a building on Via XXIV maggio near the intersection of Via Nazionale. The woman who runs it is English and is very helpful and responsive. I'd say it's only about a 5 minute walk to Trevi and I did walk to most venues. It's also close to the Forum/Colosseum area.
I handled my reservation by e-mail and received prompt replies. I did make my reservation about 8 months in advance - there had been a good airfare deal that I couldn't resist. Hope this helps - I would stay there again.
