Anyone ever stay at Hotel Giardino - Roma in Rome?

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has stayed at this hotel. It is recommended in Rick Steves book - I have had mixed results with his recommendation. Appreciate any experiences.
Thanks,
Mary

Sorry but I don't think this hotel is really convenient for any sightseeing or walking. I'm sure it's clean and a nice place but I would prefer to be closer to the Spanish steps or Trevi fountain.

LN, Why do you say that it is not convenient? Both Rick Steves and the website says it is close to the Trevi fountain. Have you seen it or stayed there- is it really off the beaten track???

I don't know this hotel but there appears to be 2 with similar names. The one poorly located one is the Best Western Hotel Giardino D'Europa. The other (which is probably the one you mean), appears to be in a good location near Trevi FOuntain and Piazza Venezia. If you do a google search on "hotel giardino rome', both hotels come up.

Hi Swissgirl. I'm not sure if there's a "Hotel Giardino - Roma" which is different than the Hotel Giardino. The Hotel Giardino I'm familiar with is a few blocks from the Quirinale Palace; is that the one you're considering?

I tried to get room there a couple years ago but it was booked so I haven't stayed there, but I did stop by just to give it a quick once-over and it looked fine for the price. While it certainly wouldn't be my first choice of location -- compared to, say, the Spanish Steps or Piazza Navona areas -- I think it would be perfectly fine.

The hotel Giardino that you are talking about must be good. We tried to get reservations last year at a slow time and far in advance but they were completely booked. I've heard good things about it.

Ah, I see what you mean by the "Hotel Giardino - Roma"

hotel-giardino-roma.com is the website and that is the hotel near the Quirinale Palace (and Trevi Fountain.)

Oh my, I'm sorry. The hotel I looked at seemed so far away from everything!

I didn't realize that there were TWO with the same name. I thought I was helping and here I was hindering.

Forgive me.

I'm reviving this thread since my husband and I are interested in staying at this hotel in April. It is located near the Piazza di Quirinale on Via XXIV Maggio. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Yes, I stayed here in mid-November. I thought it was fine/clean (it is ranked as a 2 star) and certainly was a great value (60 euro/day including breakfast). I believe it only has 11 rooms. It's located on the second floor of a building on Via XXIV maggio near the intersection of Via Nazionale. The woman who runs it is English and is very helpful and responsive. I'd say it's only about a 5 minute walk to Trevi and I did walk to most venues. It's also close to the Forum/Colosseum area.

I handled my reservation by e-mail and received prompt replies. I did make my reservation about 8 months in advance - there had been a good airfare deal that I couldn't resist. Hope this helps - I would stay there again.

Thanks for the info, Maryell and TuckH. I was trying to get the hotel's phone number off of the website and noticed that it wasn't working anymore either. I'll e-mail instead.

That's a mask for Venere.com, so might as well just go there.

I was trying to book with them for sept 2005, but my request came back as "unavailable." Does anyone have a direct e mail address for the hotel? I'd like to see how far ahead they will book.

Grazie!
