Are you sure you haven't already started with your taste test?

Anyway, looking forward to the results.

Usually a bourbon manhattan up for me (two cherries). Sometimes the big chicken red wine.

We have daily happy hour at our house, as well. It's just a part of life in the islands.

Artlover (and anyone else), you are always welcome to join us on the Friday night "poison" thread on the US forum.

Drink no wine before it's time.
It's time!

Check out Kal's Wine-O's thread on the other topics forum. You'll find a few drinkers there.

Mary_Fran : OMG I can relate to that !

I thought the funniest bit in 'Sideways' was where one of the guys accused the other of 'drinking and dialling

I;m not too late, am I? Or, perhaps just a bit too early.
It's almost 1 pm Thanksgiving Day and I just cracked open into a decanter a 1983 Leoville Las Cases.
A '97 Harlan Estate is lined up next.

Eagerly awaiting your Italian tasting notes.

Well, I know it's past happy hour here (it's 7 in Seattle), but wanted to wish everyone a good weekend and thanks for the invite to join the "what's your poison thread on the U.S. board--will do that after I finish reporting back on the wine tasting. Well, I made a mistake. I brought out what I thought was a great local bottle and we compared with the $9 Vitiano Rosso Umbira 2003 from Costco and it didn't surprise me that the local won. But today, DH pointed out that the "local" was actually an Austrakia--Paringa Cabernet Sauvignon 2002 that someone had brought over (and turns out it too is under $10). And I have no idea what happened to that "great local bottle", but we did finish off Italian daughter's desert wine from Scicily that was yummy with pumpkin pie--Vini Liquorosi Contrassegno di Stato. She wouldn't let me open the other bottle she brought yet--saying it for Xmas, but will let anyone who's interested know about it. We're not connoisseurs--pallet and pocketbook don't allow (not to mention memory...what the heck did I do with that bottle...probably drank it!), but it's fun to have a drink and chat with friends here...

Artlover: curious, what does "pallet" mean where you are ? Here it's one of those wooden platforms on which boxes of goods are stored in warehouses & moved around by fork lift truck.

I think s/he may have meant to type "palate."

P.S. The portion of a wine label posted above is not the wine variety.

I'm not positive that that's what s/he meant, but it seems to make sense. However s/he never came back to confirm.

Yes, cmt is right, I meant "palate." Guess I don't know how to read a wine bottle label either and would recheck it but it's already gone if recycling.

Also, still can't figure out how to do "smileys" even thought I have the legend, but I'm going to try here and wish everyone a good day. If it doesn't show up, could someone please help me! Thanks!

Hi Artlover,

Just type a smiley like you would on e-mail and it automatically converts.

So, first type : and then - and then ) all together. Try it.

Also could type : and then )

Just typed it both ways and these are the results.

If you hit the Preview My Reply before you post, you can see what it looks like.
