Anybody figured out how to get to the next 50 threads???

For the last few days it has been REALLY frustrating. Click on the next 50, and you get #50 - 100 alright - but w/ a gap of from several hours to a full day. It definitely isn't the "next 50". I have done various combinations of refresh/previous/next and so on and usually after 5 or 6 tries the actual next 50 will display.

But this morning, it just took me 14 tries - yes I AM stubborn - to get there.

This is such a pain . . . . .

Hmmm, going to suggest that you refresh or reboot, but noticed that the current 50th thread was posted at 7:28 and the 51st at 1:33, so there's about a six hour break in there. There were probably some posts during that period, so there is a big gap.

The next fifty threads have not been written yet. You will just have to be patient.

Betsy: "noticed that the current 50th thread was posted at 7:28 and the 51st at 1:33, so there's about a six hour break in there."

That is just it - there is no break in threads. If you keep trying you will eventually find that there is only a minute or two between threads. But if you just click on "next 50" and don't notice the discrepancy you will miss a LOT of threads.

Earlier this morning, one of the times I clicked next 50, it jumped from 8:56 a.m. all the way bast to 9:32 p.m last night.

This could be a real problem for newbies looking for a thread.

As mentioned above, I have noticed for while now that the same posts shows up later with a different number but it's the same when you open it up. Crazy!

This is more than a tad clumsy, but I think it works in a less clumsy way than umpteen refreshes.

Right-click on "get the next 50 messages" and open a new window. What you get is just the left hand column (centered, on my computer) with no right hand frame. Refresh it (might take more than once), until the "gap" disappears... to me this is evidence that you are "peeling off" older displays of the same page cahced minutes (even hours) by someone before you (someone anywhere else in the world... not on YOUR computer).

Now go back to the "normal" page (lefthand column, right frame), click on ""get the next 50 messages" and you should (might? but no promises)... get the correct "second page"/"next fifty".

I just have to believe that they have a cache (mal?)function on their server's "query processor" (no idea if this is a correct technical term).

Best wishes,

Rex

Do you have no way to click on an embedded URL and open in a new window?

The point is - one should not have to open a new window to get to the next threads. The darn site should work the way it is supposed to . . . . . .

Agreed. Providing info on some possible work-arounds, in the meantime, is the best I know, to be helpful.

For what it's worth, I suppose this is the kind of thread that Peter Kay ("bronxzilla&quot wants to see on the "News and Announcements" forum. The problem is that it's nearly out of sight, out of mind there.

Anyone that takes an interest in the workings (and dysfunctioning? and sociology?) of Travel Talk might find it worthwhile to look there.

I DO hope that some f the 'powers-that-be' are monitoring this discussion. I am on several travel forums and this is the most frustrating of all.

Janisj, I use a Mac and when I just now noticed a big gap (6 hours) from #50 to #51, I clicked refresh and it was fine. Good luck!
