Any thoughts on Black Light Theatre or Magic Lantern in Prague?

Hi. My husband and I will be in Prague in September and were considering buying tickets for one of these productions. Have any of you attended one of these events? If so, I'd really appreciate your thoughts and whether or not you'd recommend it. Thanks in advance.

Yes. It's fun and requires no knowledge of Czech language. Just go and be entertained. I think tickets were only $10 each or so. I've only seen this in Prague so it may also be a unique Prague experience.

Thanks. Which one did you do? Do you buy your tickets in Prague or in advance? Thanks again.

We saw a production at the Laterna Magica last year and found it to be only mildly enjoyable..but that's us and not you. The set designs for having been done by Josef Svoboda were a bit disappointing. BUT, your experience may be better and different. We orderd tickets throuhg our hotel concierge by e-mail prior to arrival but need not have done so....the house wasn't even half full the night we attended. Whatever you decide I hope it is enjoyable and that yolur trip to Prague is wonderful.

Sorry, I don't remember the name of the theatre. it was right on street Pariz just off the old town square. Theater was upstairs and not what you'd call plush--seats were set up chairs rather than standard theater seats. We stopped by on the day of the show we wanted to see and bought our tickets at the theater. No assigned seating.

I was a little disappointed in the Black Light Theatre, I went to The Kiss. I had to keep telling myself 'it is only $8!' The Russian tourists all around me really enjoyed it, though.

I liked Laterna Magika but I did get a little motion sick from it. My nieces, who are really into dance, will *love* it!

Hi, we went to Laterna Magika in May and while it was entertaining, it seemed like the kind of high concept that maybe would of been amazingly clever in the late 60's. Clever but outdated. The theater was really nice and upscale. I can recommend it as something to do if your are not into bar or nightclub scenes and have been to some of the great concerts all over Prague everynight. I don't remember what it cost, but I remember it wasn't too much.

We did the Black Light Theatre on Pariska Street near the old town square last week. You can purchase tickets same day or right before the show. We arrived 5 minutes late, but still got in, albeit seats way back but with fine view. It's worth the price for some light entertainment in a town where there are no english language shows, especially if you are not into opera or classical concerts.
