Any suggestions for Florence side trips?

I am going to Florence in 1 week for a study abroad program and will have the weekends available for side trips. I will be there for 3 months. Any suggestions of places I can't leave without seeing???

This question has already been asked and answered 100's of times on this board. Try putting out a little actual effort.

You must not go home without going to Sienna, one if the most beautiful cities I have ever been to. You can take a train from Florenec but the bus is actually faster and cheaper. It takes about an hour if I remember correctly and leaves from the main bus depot beside the train station. The best thing to do in Sienna? Just to sit in the Campo and soak up the history and atmosphere.

The best thing you can do is rent a car on weekends and go exploring. With 12 free weekends you can virtually see just about every spot in the country.

platzer...could you possibly be a bit less helpful or pleasant? I see you posting everywhere only to be critical and rarely offering anyone any help at all. Why?

Hi kim,

At least once, if not every day, take the no7 bus from the train station to Fiesole (about 20 min) and have a glass of wine on the terrace of the Bar Blu while watching the sun set over the city.

A weekend (or 2) to Venice and a weekend (or 2) to Rome.

Trains would be the best travel option if you decide to go directly.
