antwerp and brugge

We have 5 days to spend in Belgium and from previous posts, it seems best to avoid Brussels. We have already booked 2 nights in Brugge, but wondering if we should add a night there or go ahead and spend 3 nights in Antwerp. Any ideas and suggestions for inexpensive places to stay in Antwerp?

I am not sure about avoid Brussels, as I did enjoy visit the city; however I have stayed in Antwerp several times- an very interesting city- vibrant with old and new, never run out of things to do and see.

I have stayed at 2 stars Hotel Villa Mozart each time- most centrally located in old town centre, facing the Cathedral, clean and functional room, decent breakfast, the only drawback is the bell ringing from Cathedral- could be a problem if the room facing the square.

I have not been to Antwerp, but visited Brugge this past June. It is a quaint, small town that I think can be done quite leisurely in two days.

B&B Bed, Bad & Brood in Antwerp is lovely. Inexpensive, nicely furnished, good breakfast, kind owner. It's a bit far from the centre, 20-minutes walk or a short tram ride, but on the other hand it's close by the fabulous fine arts museum. I would gladly stay there again.
