Another Sardinia hotel question

Has anyone stayed at or seen the Hotel Stella Maris? If so, can you compare it to the Flamingo or the Cormoran?

How about Hotel Sporting in Porto Rotondo?
Thanks. WT

The Stella Maris is very close to Villasimius, which is on the opposite side of the island from the Flamingo at Santa Margherita di Pula. I really can't say which is better or preferable. One reason to prefer Santa Margherita is its proximity to the Roman ruins of Nora. However, some people prefer Villasimius for its proximity to Costa Rei.

If you have not done so already, I recommend that you take a look at the web site for the superior-4 star Sant'Elmo Beach Hotel Resort on the Costa Rei, two hours east by ARST Bus from Cagliari, and about 20 minutes north of Villasimius. This property might meet or exceed your requirements. It is open from mid-April through October. There are daily excursions to supplement the pool and beach activities.

That hotel does look good! So does the beach! What is it about Costa Rey? Why do tourists want to be near there? Is it for the beaches?

Thanks, WT

WT: Costa Rey has been built up over the past 25 years (several years after the buildup of the area around Santa Margherita di Pula). Lots and lots of summer homes and condominiums. It gets quite crowded there during July and August (months to avoid, in my opinion). The main attractions are the beach, watersports, equestrian trails, hiking, golf and tennis, evening animation, scenery and wonderful air quality. Good destination for families with young children.
