the new Navigo kind of replaces Carte Orange in terms on the payment process but the old CO is still around like usual

According to the RATP website (and my horrid French) Carte Orange IS going away. The part I can't figure out is when LOL! The website says the sale of the Carte Orange ticket is going away in 2008.... That's a 12 month period and I can't figure out when they plan to end the sale. Guess we will just find out.

To the OP: No one seems to have responded about your Versailles transport. The best bet is the "Forfait Loisirs Château de Versailles", which includes transport and entry to Versailles, bypassing the enormous line-ups which you can actually view at GoogleEarth!

The RATP has made a point of not setting a specific date for the end of the Carte Orange yet, but the date that they would like to set is July 1st, 2008. At the moment, they are busy observing how many (local) people are switching to the Navigo with their active encouragement.
