I will be there for a week beginning of August and got Hilton Olympia through priceline for $81 a night! Not the bext location for sightseeing, but only a bus ride or tube ride or walk from where we want to be. I checked biddingfortravel.com to see what others were paying. I figure what we save in hotel money we can spend on other stuff.

snschloss: You'll enjoy the Olympia Hilton - while the tube connections aren't the best (but not terrible) there are bus stops right outside the hotel. And for what you saved - heck, you can spring for a taxi now and then

Just a follow up...
I did try PL and also got the Hilton Olympia Kensington but paid $95 - I'm not a savvy bidder so I probably got my bidding sequences wrong. I also added the $5/pn insurance, just in case, and the total is still below what I budgeted. Anyway, the reviews seem to be okay and the double room looks about the size of our bedroom so I think we'll have space. A few questions if I may -
- can I call the Hotel to make sure that we get a non-smoking double room? Or because this is a Priceline room I'm at the mercy of what the hotel has availability when we get there? I seem to get mild asthma attack when I'm around cigarette smoke or cat's hair.
- are the tube stops, Olympia and Earl's Court safe at night when we get back late from the theatre or should we just take the bus as I've read there are very close bus stops in the area.
- how many mins. to get to King's Cross station? We're thinking of taking a couple of day trips and the the train schedule I've been looking seem to all start at Kings Cross.
Thank you. Baljit.
