If you like the apartment on Rue Rollin don't forget the "discount" you get by not having to convert dollars to euros for payment. If the owner of the first apartment is in your town, meeting over lunch to make payment will be cheaper and a lot more convenient than converting dollars to euros.

I don't think that will apply because she said the payment is in euros and payable upon arrival. I imagine it has to do with her property management company.

Don't assume that because someone will accept $US that it won't be cheaper to pay in euros. I'd ask for both prices. Convenience sometimes comes with a cost

rue Rollin is more than 200 sq feet larger than rue de Sevigne (I didn't see the size of rue de La Sourdiere mentioned - but I didn't read the whole description in detail)

I do like that location, and since it is so much larger, that would be my first choice.

I would guess that it has to do with avoiding taxes, a practiced art in most of Europe. *Black money*, cash, is much preferred to making bank transfers which the government can trace.
