Another Airfare Question
Yes, yet another one.....
I am sitting here with one finger poised to hit the "buy" button but the littel voice in the back of my head keeps saying "maybe it will get cheaper" So I need you guys to yell at me that it's OK to hit the "buy" botton.
Details...
ATL to London Gatwick departing 12/25 arriving 12/25 with a return on 1/1. Total cost (taxes fees and who knows what) $693.50 and it's non-stop. The only cheaper thing I found was on AA which requires me to go from ATL to DFW... a LONG trip and the savings weren't enough...
So would you buy or wait?
Thanks!

The usual answer... can you live with this price? Are your dates fixed?
Would it hurt you more if you bought the tickets and the price went down or if you waited and the price went up??
For me this price is a little high and the trip a couple of days too short but it might be just right for you!
Did you check Kayak and look at the fare trends?

Well the trip has to be this short. I just don't have that much vacation time (and money LOL!)
I have a feeling I am going to pull the trigger. I agree it's a little high, but it's also non stop and my other non stop options seem to be going up......
I will check Kayak. (I checked farecast.com but they won't predict that far out!!!!) Farecompare shows "lower" fares, but my dates are already sold out...

Carol-
I was looking at this exact same flight plan with the exact same dates a couple of weeks ago. It did go as low as $550 on AA's website but, like you mentioned, the layover was somewhere in the Midwest. Since then, the fares have only gone up and I am sure they will continue to do so as people start making holiday plans! Needless to say, we are going skiing out West instead

Wait! Unless your dates are fixed, before you press that button go to itasoftware.com and do a 30-day search to get the lowest fare during any 30 day period. You can't book a flight there, but you can get all the info you need to book it through the airline website.

that seem outrageously high to me for travel on those two dates. Load factors are not usually heavy on dec 25. Ther are often winter travel sales announced in Aug/Sep/Oct. I personally wouldn't pay that much from the west coast let alone from the east. But I agree w/ highflyer . . . . . <<Would it hurt you more if you bought the tickets and the price went down or if you waited and the price went up?>>
