anniversary trip

my husband and i will be arriving from venice to heathrow airport on a tuesday in may at 4pm. we are staying at the holiday inn bath rd at the airport that night before we fly home to boston the next morning at 10am. i am wondering what to do in that time period. i would love to go to london. could anyone please suggest what to do with the time that we have. what is the fastest but not too expensive way to travel to london. any restaurant suggestions. this is our 25th wedding anniversary and i am sure we will have already spent alot in venice but do want to be able to see london. thanks in advance kathy

I've not been to London so can't help.

However, if you don't get a reply here, you might post again with London Anniversary Trip as your subject heading. That would attract people who have been to London to answer your question.

My reply will put this back at the top. I hope you get some answers because there is much knowledge in this forum. You might also do a search (in the search box directly above) using London Short Tours or something similar. You'll get lots of information that way.

Just suggestions. Hope you get your answer.

Also search under "London Layover" or "Heathrow Layover."

you can take the tube into london from heathrow easily....but you have limited time and if you did not mind spending some money i would ask the hotel if they could arrange a cab for you to take you to the city and give you a quick show around....

alternately and this would be my choice....i would take a cab to windsor, which is neaby and have a walk around there and have a nice dinner and then go back to the hotel....cheers from another boston person who has been to london over 30 times...also going to venice in march, o4....

Because of your time constraints the cab to Windsor is a good idea. However if you are prepared to put the effort in then a visit to central London and a taxi tour of the main sites is possible. Dont forget to try some english fish and chips (cheap and tasty) see earlier posting on this page for some recommendations
