If the wedding is small, what about Parador of Granada?

If your friend is thinking about a full, legal marriage ceremony, be warned that unless one of the party is a resident in Spain, it will be quite difficult to arrange one. A lot of foreigners go to Gibraltar for the ceremony and legal bits (where there is no residence requirement), then hold a reception in Spain.

Thanks for the info. Didn't think about Gibraltar! It's supposed to be beautiful there, too. Anyone know of some great places in Gibraltar to have the ceremony? (very small 10-15 people.) Thanks. kawh

Gibraltar is not an andalusian village, and I do not recall it as a charming place. Besides, you may find lines in the customs. It may be suitable for the papers, but if you want a wedding in Andalusia, choose an andalusian location.

Most foreigners get married in Gibraltar, just as Alec stated and have the reception in Spain. However, you need to contact the authorities and arrange the date and then abide by the strict requirements. If either party has been previously married, be prepared to show original death certificates or divorce papers. The marriages take place in the registry office. Two couples who are friends of mine have been married in Gib. In both cases the groom was a US citizen while the brides were English and Danish. Both stayed the night in a Gibraltar hotel and celebrated with a dinner reception in Spain.
