Amsterdam restaurants

Mom and teen-age daughters- 16 and 18. Would love some recommendations for fun, slightly trendy AND good food for dinner. We enjoy Greenwich Village and Soho restaurants in New York. Where to go in Amsterdam?

Le Zinc, Der Blonde Hollander. If you have the patience of a saint and are not hungry, the Green Lantern fondue spot can be fun. We were starved and it seemed to take forever for the food to cook!

Any of the following would be options with decent-great food and will have your daughters bragging about you when you get home. I would avoid the Blonde Hollander, but Zinc et les Autres would be ok though not as "trendy" as what you have below. Balthazar's Keuken and Kroonluchter might be the best on my list for food alone, while Nomads, Supperclub, Bazar, and 11 will probbaly offer the most memories since each will be quite unlike anything back home.
If you want more trendy tips, let me know, but as a parting thought...be sure to take your daughters to Droog Design; it's a gallery/store with VERY quirky and unusual but functional design products.
As Ida mentioned, IENS is a great website, but I feel that www.specialbite.nl tends to give better advice if you are concerned with food AND style in equal measure.
Lastly, www.coolcapitals.com is an OK source for trendy events, hotels, attractions etc.

Supperclub - You eat on beds, there are DJs and live entertainment...very cool. www.supperclub.nl

Nomads - an "Arabian Nights" themed version of the same where deejays playing world music, belly dancers, and rose water foot rubs are side attractions. www.restaurantnomads.nl

Restaurant 11 - Has great harbour views and a very trendy decor with video art installations. Go at night when it looks best, not for lunch when it's a big, somewhat empty place. www.ilove11.nl

Wolvenstraat - OK it's not called Wolvestaraat but it's located at Wolvenstraat 23 and the place is too cool in a local and laidback way to have a name.

The cafe located in De Balie - not noteable food, but it's an artspace with a decent cafe for lunch steps from the Leidseplein.

Wagamama - Cheap and cheerful and trendy Japanese.

Bazar - Moroccan / turkish themed place, located in a renovated church with contemporary design decor...very popular with 20 somethings. It's located in De Pijp which is itself a "cool" neighborhood for locals to live, lounge and dine in. www.bazaramsterdam.nl

15 Amsterdam - An Outpost of Jamie Oliver's place in London. Jamie doesn't cook but he invested and "overseas" the menu. The kids working there are in training and on TV like the show in the UK. www.fifteen.nl

Het Land van Walem - Usually just called Walem. Cool interior and good lunches, trendy crowd...has a nice terrace too.

Balthazar's Keuken - three course, prixe fixe popular with locals. You'd have to book a day or two in advance for this one. www.balthazarskeuken.nl

Kroonluchter - Hipish place with substance, again, mostly local patrons
www.restaurantdekroonluchter.nl

De Ondeugd - Name means "the naughty" but it's really just fun and catering to youngish and stylish. www.ondeugd.nl

Stout - Another chilled out place with a local and trendy vibe
www.restaurantstout.nl

Zaza's - small and buzzing place FULL of locals. www.zazas.nl
