Two adults looking four four nights in a great location in Amsterdam.

Would like something with some Dutch ambience that's upscale.
Looking at:

We enjoyed Hotel l'Ambassade, created from several merchants' homes, on the beautiful Herengraxht canal. Wonderful area.

You can be in one of the old shipyard cranes at NDSM.

20 minute free ferry ride from Amsterdam CS and a very good area for restaurants, local nightlife etc.

more than gorgeous views, and your own "island" to return to so you can get out of hectic Amsterdam

I have a hard time believing you have included the De L'Europe in the same sentence with not liking "Waldorf prices" but perhaps their prices have changed.
Have you considered THE Waldorf in Amsterdam, btw?

Conservatorium is wonderful. Definitely Waldorf prices or more, though.

What are you actually willing to pay? Cheapest rooms at Conservatorium are close to 500/night.

Perhaps check out the Hoxton on Herengracht.

Thanks to those of you that offered suggestions.

BTW, Yes THE Waldorf was around 600/night and the Conservatorium had a rate, on a promotion, for mid 400.

Planning on pursuing the Dylan, looks appealing, AM Ex promotion had canal side room inc breakfast, junior suite for what the other rooms offered without canal views and no meals.

It is nice to get others input, not necessary to provide unwanted arrogance.
