Amsterdam hotel help needed

Staying for 3 nts. in May, 2011. Would like hotel that includes Breakfast in good location(not near RLD) for $200 USD or less per night. Is this even possible??
I've also looked at B&B's but the steep stairs in most, if not all, of them is a deterrent. DH doesn't do 3 flts of steep stairway very well. Also require private bath.
Any suggestions are appreciated!

Not sure what RLD is- red light district?
For our recent trip we stayed at the Nh Amsterdam Centre and it was fine. We got it by bidding on Priceline for (if I recall correctly) about US$ 80/night for 4* in Museum district. Rooms are not huge but more than adequate. Leidsplein location was good. Breakfast was not included, and was about 19 euro per person per day, but worth it if you are a breakfast person - full buffet with everything you could want.

Thanks, how do you guys find those good deals on Priceline? Don't you have to pay first and can't cancel?? That worries me. Everything I've seen in Amsterdam so far is way over $200USD and no breakfast, maybe an elevator.

Consider Hotel Aalders, Hotel Fita, or the Hotel Alexander, all near the Rijksmuseum.

On Priceline you have the option of buying insurance. I think it's $5 per day.

I also bid and won the NH Amsterdam Central, it was a very comfortable hotel, no breakfast but if you're paying 70 - 80 per room and you were prepared to pay much more than spend it on the breakfast. Or go across the street to the American Hotel and have breakfast, if I remember correctly their buffet breakfast was about $18 Euro and it was delicious and the dining room was very nice.

Yes, TAW that's how it works. Can't claim to be a PL expert, as this was the first time I tried it, but it sure worked out well. There are some here who have a great deal of experience and can offer guidance. I followed their recommendation to bid on a 4* property in the museum district.

Try the Hotel Orlando. They have 1 or 2 rooms on the first floor. Breakfast included, close to the streetcar.
