Amsterdam Hostels

My gf and I are planning a trip to Amsterdam. We are attempting to find a quiet hostel, one that doesn´t have to be "in the middle of the action". We are coming for the scenes, not to spend time in the Hostel all day
We both don´t smoke pot anymore so smoke free would be great but it doesn´t really matter.

We have found one. It´s called Stayokay Stadsdoelen . It seams to be in a quaint part of town. Has anyone has any experiences there? You can only learn so much from reading countless reviews on dozens of forums.

Is there another one we are missing, by chance?

If you state your budget, you might get suggestions other than hostels.

If you don't have to be in the middle of the action, how about Haarlem? PQ suggests this B&B which has very good rates and is a short train hop from Amsterdam.

we are planning on staying for 2 nights. We like Hostel rates as we know it will be between 100€ and 140€ total. We are budgeted as we are travelling from Amsterdam and going to Bruges and then into Normandy. We are driving from Germany and are leaving our car at a P+R outside of the core.

For that price you can stay in a nice hotel with breakfast and free wifi thrown in. In fact The Hestia is a lot less expensive, well located and good transportation

Have you checked the availability at Stadsdoelen? It is very popular and fills up fast.
There is also StayOkay Zeeburg which is a bit out of the centre.
Not sure if they have private rooms though. Obviously sharing rooms is much much cheaper than private rooms.

Room rates at the Hestia are not cheaper - €107 for a small double per night! You may get it slightly cheaper, but it depends on when you are going.

We have no problem sleeping in a dorm. We did that in Rome and it wasn´t that bad. There are beds available at Stadsdoelen and are aiming towards staying there but from some of the reviews I read, I seen stories of bed bugs lol.

This is an old thread which had been topped for advertising I suspect, since Frans11's one and only post is here and raving about a B&B in Haarlem.
I have triangled it.
