Amsterdam 2 day trip

Hi!

Could you please give me some idea on what best to do for a 2 day weekend visit to Amsterdam?

Thanks in advance!

if you go to the top of this page, in Destinations, Fodors offers a lot of suggestions for sightseeing in Amsterdam, and they offer ideas of what can be seen in short visits.
Once you look at that, you may develop some interests and additional questions about fitting in your particular interests into a 2-day stay. Without knowing if you want to visit art museums, or concert halls or historic places, or take a boat ride, it's very hard to make suggestions. What time of year are you going? That makes a difference also.

Most people choose Anne Frank house and a couple of the museums. Also a canal boat ride.

I like Vondelpark myself, if the weather is good. And very much enjoy Leidseplein around the square for the evenings.

We were there in June. It's Rembrandt's 400th birthday so lots of special exhibits. We loved Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum. Anne Frank house is a must. Canal boat ride was good for overall information. Great restaurants and we ate outside all the time (don't know when you are going). I AMsterdam card was a good deal for mueums and bus travel.

I will be in Amsterdam in November...I wonder if it's a good time to take a boat ride. Yes I would like to visit museums but as I've got only two days I need to know what's really worth to see. Any suggestions for restaurants?

I'd wait and pick restaurants depending what part of the city you are staying in. First I'd find a hotel. Amsterdam is a pretty big city.

Depends what type of thing you are interested in. I spent 5 days there and didn't go to any museums at all; just my personal preference.

"Worth it" is so very personal.
If you don't want to narrow things down from the Fodors Destination information, you may for example want to read a trip report like this one http://tinyurl.com/rspjn
For me, two days in Amsterdam would at include
Anne Frank House
Van Gogh Museum
Richsmuseum
Rembrandt House
a guided walking tour of the highlights of the historic center

Many thanks for a truely excellent trip report with all of the essential details and informative items.

Enjoyed it very much. Copied and Pasted into word for my planned trip to AMS this Spring.

Especially appreciated the links. Was looking for a guided walking tour too - thank you for that one also.

I have bought silk long underwear
