Amboise hotel or B&B June/July 2011
My wife, 12 year old grandaughter and I can't seem to be able to decide on a place to stay for about 4 nights in Amboise. We could be somewhat fexible but our wish list includes: within walking distance of the Chateau and restaurants, swimming pool, A/C, shower, around €150 per night, convenient place to park car. There are several places we are considering (Le Manoir Les Minimes, Le View Manoir, Manoir du Parc, Le Manoir Saint Thomas) but none seem to be a clear winner for one reason or another. Are there other places I am missing? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think you'll find many more properties in Amboise, it isn't that large of a town. We were very pleased with Le Manoir Les Minimes, but I don't recall there being a swimming pool there. It was easy to park the car in their courtyard, and then go off on our jaunts, as the inn sits right off a "D" road, so very little to no town navigation to park or exit. From le Manoir, we walked to the Chateau, through some of the town, over to the Da Vinci museum, and even across the bridge for a bit.

Thanks for your ideas. Travelnut - If Le Manoir Les Minimes had a pool, that would be our pick - and it still may be even without a pool. StCirg - I could not find a web site for the Lion d'Or - do you have one? Thanks again.

I didn't find a website for the Lion d'Or so perhaps you need to call or e-mail them, or perhaps I just couldn't find it. Here's a link that may help if you haven't found all these hotels already:

Also check the Venere hotels site for prices, in case they have a "special"
this one has a pool . (I found all sorts of intriguing places when Loire Valley was on my plan...alas, will have to wait for futrre trip).

I absolutely loved Le Manoir Les Minimes - it's beautiful and convenient. But no pool. I imagine you would have to stay somewhat out of town to have a place with a pool, maybe in a chateau. I was at Le Manoir for 3 nights and certainly recommend it. I also loved the Chateau d'Amboise (which a lot of people seem to overlook going to). It's so full of history!
