Amazing Tuscany Accommodations for 2007
We are planning to go back to Tuscany for the third time in 2007 for three weeks and are looking for
AMAZING accommodations in the 200 euro per night range. We have spent a lot of time in Florence and San G and loved the drive on the 222. Some our best friends just adored Il Giglio in Montalcino and their absolute favorite was Borgo Argenina (wherever it is). I also love Bob the Navagator's suggestions for his favorite digs in Southern Tuscany. What three locations in Tuscany (not cities) would give us the most amazing time in Tuscany? We love wine and food and great views. Small and rustic can be good; we don't need all the amenities on site although a pool for the hot summer days would be great in at least two of the locatons. Help us plan the PERFECT 24th anniversary trip. Thanks soooo much.

How could one resist such an interesting scenario? Mind if I tag along? I am assuming you want to cover the majority of Tuscany from 3 locations--which is very feasible. Here are some ideas to consider:
Tuscany NW---base in Lucca for day trips in 3 directions. See Palazzo Alexander
Tuscany centro[Chianti]--consider www.fattoria-tregole.com and www.coltibuono.com We have stayed at Borgo Argenina and liked it but the food options are limited in that area.
Tuscany south: I really feel that San Quirico and Pienza are ideal locations.
From my list, consider Palazzo del Capitano and Le Traverse--the latter being rural.
Good luck and tell us your progress. I miss Tuscany already !

If you contact me off-forum via e-mail, I can give you a link to a villa my Swiss friends are opening for rent in Tuscany.
I don't know how public he wants this or I would share with everyone.
