laurie_ann, how very generous and thoughtful of you.

I admire your idea and wish that others would do it also.

i hope the books find a good home, as you so nicely put it.

One thing I did before going was to buy a couple of history books. I wanted a bit more depth than a guidebook. For example, it helped me understand why there is a big mausoleum for Ataturk.

Thanks for the list.

You know, this is a great idea. I'm sure we all have a fair number of travel books we used on our first trips and never look at again. I'll have to go through my shelves and see what I have.

Good for you Laurie Ann

This is a great idea. I usually donate my old books to a local library book sale which generates revenue for the library and helps to buy other books, DVDs, CDs, etc. Either way, it's nice to know your books are going to someone who will value them.

I'd like to know why laurie_ann's ID is no longer valid. She posted this morning and within a couple of hours her ID has been pulled.

My ID was pulled because I was posting a series of messages about my book "offers". I was giving them away for Turkey and a few other places. I had done it a few years ago and it was fun to correspond with the takers and I felt good about my books.

I was caught in the spam filter at fodors as it looked like advertising. I have been a fodorite for a long time. (Even quoted in three Fodors print guides.) I was heartbroken! Where was I going to get my fix for my travel addiction? But when I emailed fodors my account was quickly restored. So I am back.

Turkey books were quickly taken.
