Amazing Race
Did anyone notice that "Amazing Race" is now going to be on the Travel Channel, wwhich begins Wednesday Sept. 3? Maybe this was already posted, but I couldn't find it.
I hope they go back to their original format and showcase the locales more than the insipid personalities.
It was my favorite TV show for the first few years, but it has become hard to wach and even harder to follow in recent seasons. Way too much time spent in airports!
Anyway, I'll be watching to see if there are any changes.

Hagan - Are you sure these aren't re-runs? The new season begins Sunday 9/28 on CBS. Yep, too much time spent in airports, but on that flip side, you see how much time is wasted by sitting at the airport-which leaves for more time for creativity for the teams on getting from one destination to another.
Mark your calendar for the 28th!

Well, glad to hear that it's still on a major channel. I just saw the ads for it last night while watching the Travel Channel, and at first I thought they had the rights to the old seasons. But they said tune in for the "new season 12" so I thought it might have been booted from CBS.
You know, 5 years ago this week we traveled to Switzerland based on what we had seen on that show. They were traipsing through Grindelwald, and I knew that I just had to go see that part of the world. It turned out to be one of our most memorable trips. I'm hoping to see more places I'd love to visit this season!

Hagan - Here's a teaser from the CBS website for TAR -
Premieres Sunday, September 28th, 8/7c
Plot Outline: Eleven teams will compete in THE AMAZING RACE 13, traveling over 30,000 miles, spanning five continents, in 23 days, all starting from the world famous Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, site of the 1932 and 1984 Olympics. Phil Keoghan will host.
The 13th installment of THE AMAZING RACE will feature a variety of firsts, including: Teams traveling to a real-life water world where its inhabitants live upon a floating city; first time visits for the Race to locations such as Cambodia and Kazakhstan; and one Team makes an unprecedented mistake on the road that ultimately prohibits them from joining their fellow Racers at the finish line.
The cast also features couples in various stages of their lives - married beekeepers who have been together for years, a married but separated couple who is looking to rebuild their marriage, a newly dating couple who is still getting to know each other and best friends who are comic book aficionados and describe the Race as "the ultimate game on the biggest game board you can imagine.."
Glad you mentioned about this being on The Travel Channel - used to catch some re-runs on The Reality Channel, but most of the time remembered they were on after the show ended.
We visited Lisbon a few years back, after seeing an episode of the show - it was
one of our most memorable trips - and IMHO, Lisbon is very underrated as a destination.
Good to know you're a fan of the show! The destinations mentioned in the teaser will definitely 'bee' (get it) off their beaten path! Just hope their isn't a whiner team - remember Flo from Flo and Zach (the ultimate winners) a few years back. Also fun is when you've visited a destination and the teams are trying to figure out which way to go .. and find yourself yelling at the TV - no, the other way ... or I am the only one who does that??

On The Travel Channel website it states:

They also state that this is #12.

Hetismij, it's a really good TV show that has couples following instructions with X amount of money that send them all over the world in a race against each other. It follows them as they try to get the earliest flights, quickest land transport & just finding the target destination. The first couple to reach the end wins.
The couples can be friends, married couples, father/son/daughter, etc.
