Amalfi town and Positano daytrip from Capri

Hi. Wife and me will be in Capri for 3 days/nights in mid July. We are thinking of doing a daytrip from Capri to Amalfi town, Ravello and Positano in a single day. We plan to take the 9.30 am ferry from Capri to Amalfi town and directly take the bus/taxi to Ravello, spend some time there and walk down to Amalfi town. Is the walk down worth it ? Will it be too hot in July ?
We plan on taking the 1.40 pm ferry to Positano, spend some time in the town and on the beach and take the 5.40 pm ferry back to Capri.

How long is the walk to the top of the hill from ferry drop off point in Positano?
Is Ravello worth it or should we spend the extra time in Positano instead ?
We were thinking if we should take the bus from Amalfi town to Positano instead of the ferry so that we can walk down the hill to the beach from where we will eventually take the ferry back to Capri instead of walking uphill to the town but ive heard the buses are packed in July and they take longer as compared to the ferry. We are anyway short on time.
We both are in our mid 30's and pretty active.
Any recommendations on how we should go about this ?

Not sure about walking times but it will be hot in July. After Ravello, you could take the boat along the coast to Positano and Sorrento. The views are lovely. Then return on the ferry from Sorrento to Capri.

Where will you stay if there is a glitch in your daytrip while you are on the mainland?

The walk up to the main road in Positano from the beach is about 10/15 minutes, if you just walk straight up without stopping. However, the steps are dotted with lots of shops and cafes worth stopping for so it will take you 15 minutes plus stopping time. There's no point IMO in walking without stopping, you may as well just walk up some stairs.
Ravello or Positano? Ravello has the Duomo and the two Villas, Rufolo and Cimbrone and it's a pleasant enough village, but with so little time I'd stick to Positano, have some lunch and chill. Amalfi itself is OK with the Arsenal and Duomo, places to sit and have a drink or lunch, but again with just a few hours I'd spend them in Positano.

You have so little time on Capri. Stay there, lots to see and do.

Agree 100% with HappyTraveler. Spend your very limited time on Capri.

Thank you for the replies everyone. We have decided to walk down from Ravello to Amalfi town. Ravello-Pontone-Amalfi or Ravello-Atrani-Amalfi which is a better/scenic route ? We will start our walk downhill around 11 am.
