Amalfi coast in October

Hi,
Please advise on what town to make as a base for Amalfi Coast trip first week of October (Oct 1-Oct7).
We have 6 days and it's a first trip, so we would like to see Capri, Pompei, Mt.Vesuvius, Amalfi, Positano.

Which town is a best base for day-trips (and relaxation) around the area: Sorrento or Positano or anything else?
P.S.
We are planning to rent a car and drive from Rome to Amalfi Coast, so we'll have a car for entire stay.
Thanks!

Sorrento would be my suggestion. From Sorrento you can visit Capri, Mt. V and Pompeii then you can drive the coast to Amalfi and Positano on other days. Have fun, that time of year is perfect.

HI, We were there in Oct. afew years ago and used the town of Amalfi as our base. It was a greatr choice. We were able to go to Positano, Ravello, Sorrento, Capri and Sorrento from there . Very comfortable drives to all of these towns from Amalfi. Also enough good restaurants in that area. We loved using Amalfi as a base. Have fun

Wherever you choose, check the overnight parking situation (and cost) with your hotel. Also ask the hotel for parking tips on the days you plan to go to Amalfi, Positano and Pompei. Parking can be very difficult.

Thanks for all your advices!
Also, would you recommend 1 or 2 days to visit Capri?

Two days, the nights are so magical there, very romantic if you are in that mood or very quiet if that is your mood. The quiet parts are far away from the square but you can feel you are the only person(s) on earth.

Thanks!
Would you recommend a Sorrento Hotel for this time of the year?

There are many that are open that time of year, what is your budget? I suggest going to mappy.com and click on hotels in Sorrento which will show you where they are located, then come back here with your budget and questions. I will be there at the same time!

Hi
We decided to stay only on Amalfi coast (and Capri) and skip Pompeii and Naples this time.
Have anyone stayed in Hotel Belvedere?
It's in Conca dei Marini, 4 km from Amalfi toward Positano.
Is the location a problem?
Please advise...
Thanks
