Amalfi Coast accommodation in November?

My fiance and I are travelling to Italy for our honeymoon and I'm having a small problem finding accommodation in Positano for our dates.

We fly into Rome and are spending 5 nights there then Florence (5 nights) and Venice (4 nights) then a domestic flight to Naples and 5 nights in Positano. Our dates in Positano will be 31/10 till 4/11. I've emailed both Albergo Miramare and Eden Roc and both close on the 31st of October for winter! Is this really that common? Am I going to be able to find a hotel or am I going to have to change all my other plans? We've already booked all our other accommodations.

Cheers.

Hi Gilbey - The Tourist Office website lists hotels which remain open, e.g Palazzo Murat, Posa Posa, Casa Albertina, Pasitea :

Hope this helps ...

I don't think it's really worth going there in the winter - I'd stick to the cities, or else go for Taormina in Sicily. I'm sure you could fly from Venice to Catania (try Alitalia and Volare).

I agree w/ CarolineEdinburgh. Weather can be iffy then, often rainy and cold.

Thanks guys. I'm going to try and change our Florence hotel dates so we can just swap it with Positano.

I'll be the contrarian. We've been to the Amalfi Coast late in November and had great weather. While Positano is a nice place, I prefer staying in Sorrento which is bigger with more to do at nite.

Hi TG,

I can highly recommend Le Sirene in Positano. www.lesirene.com

It is open until 11/4.

See my trip report for details:

I agree with Pugsly, we were in Sorrento the first week in November 2005 for 4 days and had beautiful weather; sunny and warm. We stayed in Sorrento and toured throughout the area. We enjoyed all the activities that Sorrento offered. Sorrento did not appear to be in off season mode at all.

Weather is one thing that you can never count on, if you can't rearrange your travels I would not rule out the area just on weather. We were in Paris in August last year and it was unusually cool.

Have a great trip. Deborah

I think you mean Le Sirene in Praiano not Positano don't you, Ira ? The one in or at least near Positano is www.lesirenepositano.com. But it won't be open in November and even if it were I wouldn't recommend it for then.
