amalfi apt solo in Oct?

On a trip last month, passed through Amalfi. I got a neat feel and am thinking of going there for a week or so just to write and paint (these are not my normal occupations -- just my dream occupations), and rent an apt near the Duomo. Any thoughts, advice? October too dead? Will there be at least a few other English speakers there for when I need a break from solitude with my limited Italian?

Hi dee,

Early October is off season, but things are still open and the weather is still good. (At least it was last Oct.)

Dee,

Since you asked, "topping" is an expression that mght more properly called...

<<bringing your message back up "to the top"...>>

...for whatever reason.

In this case, it was because your message had fallen to the "second page" with no replies - - and on a different thread (about the pros and cons of non-travel, or marginally travel-related posts here on this forum), it was asserted that "off-topic posts contribute to the problem of "legitimate travel questions" (like yours) getting pushed to the bottom. And the (probably true) idea that if a question "falls off" the "first page" (50 most recent threads), its chances of getting answered are much reduced.

"Topping" gives your question renewd visibility - - just as does this reply. It doesn't matter what you say to "top" a "thread"; as little as one character brings it back up to the top, as much as entire discourse. For that reason, some people type "ttt" (to the top).

Early October is a great time here on the Amalfi Coast and there will still be plenty of tourists around.

Try this one, it is a web site for a tourist service in Amalfi, right in town, they are very helpful and speak English.

Thanks so much for the good tips, both as to Amalfi (such as the good site, Sea Urchin) and as to message board tips, Rex. Guess I'm applying it, huh?
