Am I nuts? Norway in a Nutshell
I`ve finally figured out what I`m going to do,I think!
Having spent 4 days in Tromso,From Oslo I`m taking the train to Bergen via Myrdal & Flam (should I also include Voss?) Is this a 1 day trip?
2 nights in Bergen, ferry to Stavanger,
2 " in Stavanger ,train to Oslo.
All this in November,(I know it will be cold ,) I`m doing this independently & given it`s unlikely that I`ll ever be back to Scandanavia, am I trying to do too much in too little time?

Don't have enough information to determine if you're nuts but I have taken the Nutshell trip. Basically the trip has three parts: the train ride from Myrdal to Flam, the very scenic boat ride from Flam to Gudvangen, and then the steep ride to the Stalheim Hotel (which will be closed in November). From Gudvangen you go back by bus to Voss where you started. It's very important to take the boat ride since it has incredibly scenery. You have two options: you can try to do it all in one day starting from Oslo or you can take the train from Oslo to Bergen and then do the Nutshell from Bergen. (You will be backtracking the Bergen to Voss segment but it's less than an hour.) You do not want to do the trip in the dark so you have to figure out how much daylight there will be if you start in Oslo and do the Nutshell from there. We stayed overnight at the Stalheim hotel but that won't be an option for you. Have fun!

Marija has given you very good advice - but yes do the Nutshell, its just one of those things you will remember for years to come. But dress warmly!
We took the Nutshell from Bergen but it was May so we had a lot more daylight hours.
Do hope you have a wonderful time.

Stavanger is great! Just be aware that the shops are closed on a Sunday. There is a boat tour of a fjord out of Stavanger. Also, there is a hike to Pulpit Rock. http://www.stavangertravel.com/news/...ock-norway.cfm
We took the high speed train from Oslo to Stavanger - then the ferry to Bergen and then did the Norway in a Nutshell staying overnight on the fjord. This is actually called The Golden Triangle tour. We went independently.
We have also taken the Norway in a Nutshell tour from Oslo to Bergen and back to Oslo via the train. It is a one day trip for the Nutshell portion. We stayed a couple of nights in Bergen and then went via train back to Oslo.

Ok folks,how does this sound.
High speed train from Oslo to Stavanger, stay 2 nights.
Ferry to Bergen staying 2 nights, doing the Nutshell( round trip from Bergen) ,then train to Oslo.
I`ve got 4 nights in Tromso ,should i make it 3 which would give me 3 nights in Bergen?
You are all saving me from going crazy trying to do this myself!
