Am I interpreting this cancellation policy correctly?
I keep coming across something like the following when looking at possible Paris hotels to book:
Cancellation fee
Cancellation fee for this date, per type:
Double Room -Shower A
Single Room A
Double Room - Bath A
Double Room - Bath or Shower-Balcony A
Twin Room A
De Luxe Double Room A
Triple Room A
Quadruple Room A
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A 1 (NO SHOW) : the first night, no extras
2 3 day(s) before arrival : the first night, no extras
Does this mean that if I cancel more than 3 days before my planned arrival, I will owe nothing?

I can't imagine what other interpretation you could have, either. I wouldn't call myself to ask about that, it seems obvious, but if you are seeing that a lot, it sounds like it isn't any hotel's booking site, it is some canned software (Availpro?). A lot of Paris hotels use that system, although they usually have a some percentage fee, as I recall for something. I thought the A referred to a kind of rate category, not room (such as regular rate, internet special, last minute, etc.).
If it is availpro, there is often a second choice in-between those two, with is 3 pct regardless of when you cancel. If you are getting a page that does not have that option and lists those as options 1 and 2, the hotel you are choosing must not have that penalty. But I thought that was a std. Availpro thing, and it was for all their bookings as it was really their own fee.
