Alitalia or Air One?

Flying Catania Sicily to Rome. Alitalia and Air One have nearly identical itineraries but the Air One fare is quite a bit less. Alitalia is a Super 80 and Air One is a 737. Which airline would you fly? (Air One is a subsidiary of Alitalia, I believe)

Air One is an independent airline and I use them to fly to Sicily very often. Nice airline. I've never had a problem. Haven't used Alitalia in years, so I haven't had a problem with them in years. You are much less likely to get involved with some strike if you use Air One.

Thanks, TravMimi, I was hoping you'd say that. I've heard awful things about Alitalia and was somewhat worried about Air One because I somehow thought they were connected with Alitalia. Whew!

I live near Catania and we often fly WindJet from Catania to Rome. They are reliable and typically have the lease expensive tickets. Check out www.volawindjet.it

Air One is independent, but has widespread codeshare agreement with Lufthansa. It's not associated with Alitalia. It and Lufthansa is one of the groups that may buy out Alitalia.

flightstats.com is a good site to compare scorecards of different airlines, routes and airports. You have to sign up, it's free and all you need to supply is username, password and an email address.

Thanks to each of you.
ZoeB -- Do you know the baggage restrictions on WindJet? I couldn't find anything on their website but have read that they allow only 15 kg total per person and only 1 bag. Since you fly them I thought you might know. Thanks.
