Wally flies Air One
Interesting situation. I arrived at the Rome airport today and went to the check-in and showed them my receipt. They said my credit card had not gone through and I hadn't paid for the flight. I very quickly asked, can I still get on the flight? They said yes. I asked, is it still the same price, 83 Euros to Split, Croatia. They said yes.
I don't remember seeing the flight on my credit card statement so I paid and got on the flight. The Rome airport was full of people waiting for their flights and there were more people sitting on the floor than on seats. I got on the bus that took everyone out to the plane and began to think they were going to drive us to Croatia. We boarded a 737-400 aircraft. Four minutes after take-off the fasten seatbelt sign was turned off. Three young female flight attendants with beautiful make-up handed out moist towels, a beverage and cookies. The flight was only one hour long.
The aiport in Split is located 24 km. from the city. The bus into town was only about 6 U.S. dollars. Someone offered to drive me for $40. But it is hot here--It was over 100 in Rome yesterday.
Air One was a hit with me.

Free wine on Air Force One?! I'm running for President. No second thought, Bill Clinton would shoot me if I won.
BTW, their In-flight magazine had a big article about Chicago, since they are starting direct service from Chicago and Boston to Milan using the Airbus A330.
Split Croatia is really beautiful, but I wish it could cool down a bit. Temperatures are around 95 each day.

I'm in Croatia, sailing up and down the coast from Split on a sailboat with only 16 people. Only one other American who is from Seattle. Lots of Australians. They do get around a lot. They complain about Qantas and then I tell them about $6 beers on American International flights and they are in shock.
If you are a smoker, you would love Croatia.
