A 380 Flights Take Off...
And land...Airbust's ballyhooed A 380 huge passenger plane capable of seating 800 or so folks did two test flights - one to New York from Europe with 500 people aboard - including many technicians with all kinds of measuring machines and some press, etc. And one without any passengers flew to LA.
This plane presents it seems the first significant change in airliners in years - it's double decked and requires special loading unloading equipment to let folks off both levels.
also airports need longer runways and many hangars are too small to maintain the planes.
yet the desire to carry 800 folks on long distance flights is attractive to buyers. I believe Singapore Airlines will be amongst the first to fly them commercially on a route to LA.
a neat part is there is a camera place on the rear tail and passengers at their seat screens can thus see the flight from the tail vanatage point as they go along.
Of course AirBust is reeling because they cannot fulfill the orders they already have and some have cancelled, causing AirBust stock to go into freefall.
And 2,000 AirBust workers in Toulouse went on strike to protest the cuts that were caused in the first place by not being able to produce enough planes. Only in France!
Anyway this behemoth whose wings are said to be the length of a football field promises to be in the air for a long long time.
