The BBC were saying that the liability for damage to a top-of-the-range laptop or other electrical by the carrier would be £50.

If transiting through or coming into (or out of) the UK, locked luggage is liable to have the lock broken open for inspection without you being present.

For those that are interested, I talked at AF today and they seem to be consistant with most of the other major carriers although each airport might be different. Delta and AF permits up to 26 lbs & 45" of carry on baggage. No liquids other than those previously mentioned (babies formula, etc). Cell phones, cameras, cd players, I pods, laptops, etc. as long as they meet the above criteria. We'll just have to wait and see if there are further changes. England is still crazy.
