Depends
If it is the same ticket..(.your luggage will be chalked in all the way) not longer than a couple of hours, imo
If you have to pick up your luggage, check In with a differen airline ,and go through security...
hard to tell.

I've never transferred there but it's a nice, fairly small airport, relatively. So if you presume you would normally check in for the Vueling flight 1.5 hrs in advance (that's what I do domestically, sometimes I aim for 2), since you'll have to get bags and then leave and come back in, I suppose I'd allow for at least 2.5 hrs, probably 3 to be secure.

The airport is not big but it can be very busy
...the unknown is how long it will take for passport and security control ....
I would leave no less than 3-4 hours in between flights.
If you have extra time, it is a very nice , modern airport to relax at.

I have waited an hour for baggage to come out in Barcelona before. If you can do carry on it would really help your cause if you have a short connection time. Even if you can do that I would allow four hours, especially if you are traveling over the summer, because danon is right it can be very busy - and your flight could be late...
If you have some hours to kill and want to rest and take a shower, you can rent a room for a few hours in the airport.
Premium Traveller. Air Rooms Barcelona. Rooms located within the airport

Barcelona isn't that small. Security can be VERY quick or it can be a disaster. The only upside is you're traveling within the Schengen zone. The real security delays are with flights out of the zone.
No matter how much time you leave nothing stops either airline from changing your flight times.

"Barcelona isn't that small."
As a city, no. As an airport in a major city (Barcelona is roughly the size of Philadelphia), BCN is not that large. That said, you should keep about 4 hours minimum because you will have to go through immigration and recheck bags AND Nick is right - they can change flight times.
