Airline changed our flight to Rome - advice?

Just got an email from Travelocity indicating that Delta changed our flight from Rome (with more layovers now, of course). This is incredibly annoying, is there anything we can do about this? Is it a waste of time to try and call the airline?

Not necessarily a waste of time to call. But before you do, check all schedules to see what other flights you would prefer and ask to be booked on those. Just complaining is probably not as productive as politely asking for exactly what you want.

Exactly, find out if there are better DL schedules that fit you better. They do fly from JFK and ATL to Rome; so the other flight may be better.

And you can ask for a full refund. Search again and see if you can find a better deal/schedule elsewhere. If you do, you may want to simply refund the DL ticket and book seperately.

What city are you traveling from Rome to? They also fly to Cincinnati nonstop besides Atlanta and JFK.

Yeah, and they also codeshare with AF and AZ, so maybe they can even put you on those flights.

AA did that to me in March - from a very convenient early afternoon departure to one at 0'dark thirty in the a.m. which is horrible since I live 2+ hours from SFO. I called them and they split the difference and put me on a mid-morning flight.

But that will only happen if there are seats. Get on the phone and work w/ the CS agent - alternate airports/code shares etc. But you MIGHT be stuck.

Delta did the same for us and let us change all the tickets to another flight...there were 4 of our tickets...it took about 30 minutes holding on line but they were very friendly...there is no change fee since they made the schedule change...just give them a call!

With the recent Delta schedule changes, I was able to change our award seats to a better routing/flight time. Delta had no problems converting seats to Skysaver where there was no Skysaver availability in order to reaccomodate us. Schedule changes can work to your favor on award itineraries.
