Airfare to Turkey

We're planning a 2 week trip to Turkey in late July. The best airfare for NYC to Istanbul we've seen on all the regular sites has been about $950...any place we can get a better deal????

Joyce, you might try www.pachatours.com to see if they do the airfare separate. I didn't use them as I am using frequent flier miles but they get good write ups in Frommer's.

The only caveat is that I think you have to write a check to them so you don't have the added security of your credit card.

I've also used a consolidator in Chicago who was able to get us cheaper fares to Europe. NYC should have a bunch of consolidators, just make sure you understand the added risks if you use one. I've used one 4-5 times without any problems.

Kris, can you email me the info for the consolidator that you used here? I'd be very interested in trying one out for the Russia/Baltics trip.

Thanks!

I, too, am disappointed in the airfares to Turkey. Sinan, are you suggesting that we book a flight from the U.S. to somewhere in Europe that is offering good prices and then book from there to Turkey on Turkish Airlines or whomever can give us a good fare? I think I will look into that. We get great prices to Paris, and there is nothing shabby about spending a night or two in Paris.

I know you are in New York. But I booked in Vancouver Canada and we transfer through Europe. we're flying with Luthansa for $1085 CAD. through Frankfurt. I have friends that fly to Holland and then buy ther tickets to Istanbul. A lot of times they have last minute deals there. Don't know if this helps. Have you tried a charter to Europe and then a connecting flight. But $950 sounds very good, especially since that is high season.

have a good trip

TO[email protected]

If You are loking for CHEAP TIKET you HAVE TO willing to stay at the airport for your CHARTER connection to Turkey you may wait maybe 12 hours who knows, maybe more then 12 hours. It's up to your LUCKY. There are many charters go to Turkey from ENGLAND, FRANCE, HOLAND, ITALY or SCANDAVIAN COUNTRIES You have to find your RIGHT connection.

Have A nice TRIP

Sinan Akdeniz

I agree with the posters that say it sounds like a good price! If it's a direct flight, it's a very good price for the time of year (high season). I went last summer, too, and paid about the same; it was the lowest price I saw for that time of year.

Who is this Sinan Akdeniz and why doesn't he try to sell his travel agency services on another site? Who cares if it's a direct flight? $400 a ticket savings during high season is incredible. Thank you Joyce for sharing your find.

I am going to Turkey at the same time. Yesterday I was on Travelocity.com and found a great deal on British airways for $858.50, leaving San Francisco and arriving in Istanbul. It seems that the prices went up 3 hours after my purchase, but are still relatively low. Go to Travelocity.com!!
