www.pubs.com - a nice site with descriptions, directions, etc..
http://tube.tfl.gov.uk/ - the official site for the underground as well as doubledeckers
Very easy to find your way around London. Every brochure/guide book will have the nearest tube station listed for any attraction/theater/restaurant/hotel, etc., also the nearest bus stop with all the bus numbers. Once you know where you are starting and where you are going, you will find London very easy to navigate. Don't worry too much till you get there. There are bus/underground maps available for free, EVERYWHERE! You will become an expert in about 10 minutes, ok maybe 1 hour
Have a great trip!

Hi Brahmama, I hope you have a good time no matter what you decide to do. London is so exciting. Just wanted to mention that it was not just me dreaming that I was on a 'double decker' bus. If you go into the website that yk posted, it definately states that the A2 is a double decker bus. It's not a coach, but a regular double decker bus. I would just hate to see you pass it up if it's something you have really wanted to do. I do think your 'expectations' are correct.
We went to the British Museum from the hotel, but took the bus, so that won't help. You'd be better on the tube, it would be quicker for you.We enjoyed taking buses everywhere, but we had lots of time.
Hope you have a wonderful time.

Kodi,
I emailed you back. Did you get it??? I hope that your cold is better - you can really come home with some nasty stuff. I think some of it may be lowered immune system just because of stress and EXHAUSTION!
Was this your first trip to London? I love it too! But being older - I"m a lot slower now - and being retired - I'm a lot poorer now!
Go and have fun while you are young - every chance you get. I really belive that adage, the only trip I regret is the one I didn't take!
