Aide ! Carte Orange

Hi,

I am leaving tomorrow and was looking for the thread that gave you the specific French terms for buying a Carte Orange for "this week" for Zones 1 and 2.

Thank you!

I did this 3 weeks ago. Since picture paints a thousand words, I printed out this web page:
http://www.citefutee.com/informer/ta...nnements_o.php

Then draw big red circles around Zone 1-2 and 15,40 then wrote down the start and end date of the week I needed which was Aout 9, 2004 to Aout 15, 2004. It worked like a charm. We brought our own photos from home.

However, as some mentioned before on this board, the 1st station refused to sell us (tourists) the card. Went to the next station and had no problems at all.

I also printed out the web page for museum pass which also worked very well.

Have a good trip!

Zones 1-2 are simply "zones 1-2" or perhaps "deux zones" (2 zones) which is what I say. You'd have to know how to say that word in French, maybe write it down, or they might not understand it.

The problem is you need to ask for a Carte Orange plus the weekly coupon. The coupon term you are seeking is probably "coupon hebdomadaire" for weekly. YOu will then have to give them a proper photo to put on the card. Some places will just give you the card and ticket if you ask, they have me, but probably only if you are speaking French and sound like know what to do. I don't mean they won't sell it to you, but they might not trust you to put the photo on and put it together yourself, and may expect you to give them the photo.

Carcassone's idea seems to have worked.

I don't think there can be a confusion on the week you want if you ask for a coupon hebdomadaire as on any given day, I think there is only one possible weekly coupon you can get, current or the one for the next week if you buy at the end of a week.

"Je voudrais une carte orange hebdomadaire deux zones SVP". Write it down on a piece of paper.

As for the *this* week part, anyway, when they begin selling the carte orange for the next week, they stop selling the one valid for the current week. I'm not sure on what day they switch. If you want to make sure that the card they're currently selling is the one valid for the current week, you can change that in :

"Je voudrais une carte orange hebdomadaire deux zones valide pour la semaine en cours SVP"

Reading christina answer, indeed you need both the card and the "coupon". So, just in case the guy would hand out only the coupon assuming you already have a card, change the previous sentence for :

"Je voudrais une carte orange et un coupon hebdomadaire deux zones valide pour la semaine en cours SVP"

Just in case you wouldn't know , there's a number printed on the card that you must write on the coupon.
