Affordable Europe - NY Times article

Todays NY TImes Travel Section lead story is about "Affordable Europe" with articles on 16 major cities and how to do them for less.

That's nice isabel, just that the article gives the impression that "Europe" is more expensive than the US and the USD would be weak. Both are myths and far far from reality. Where's the "affordable US" section?

You can access it all on line as I did yesterday. Registration is free and easy.
I read through the four cities we're doing this summer, and frankly I didnt find a single revelation in any of them. The articles are pretty basic.

It's good travel reading, about some of Europe's most visited destinations. Not necessarily the best advice on traveling to Europe in a more affordable way.

If I were being asked to plan a trip to Europe, and the goal was to keep it as affordable as possible, then I would begin by advising a traveler to avoid all of the 16 cities cited in the NYTimes article.

No doubt I would get some frowns from the recipient of said advice.

Best wishes,

Rex

I just finished reading that Escunchy. I thought, WOW! $50 for pizza? What a bargain! Very little information that I didn't already know. NEWS ALERT: even my granny knows that tapas bars in Spain are a cheap way to eat. BLIMEY.
