Advice on Italy - Naples or Florence?

I am travelling to Rome for 5 nights in September and then considering travelling either to Naples/Sorrento or to Florence/Tuscany for another 5 nights.

Would anyone be able to give me their recommendations on either of the two destinations?
Ciara---I'm betting you will get 90 percent recommendations for Florence / Tuscany, and 10 percent for Naples / Sorrento. Were it not for the Amalfi peninsula opportunity, I'd say head for Tuscany. But if you've never been to the Amalfi coast, maybe you could spend a couple of nights there, reducing your stay in Rome to four nights, and heading for Tuscany for the remainder. I think that's what I would do.

Florence is almost as good as Rome. Some will say better. I agree you will get 90% Florence

I love both Rome and Florence, but if you are from an area where you don't spend much time near the water perhaps the Amalfi coast would appeal to you more. I was raised in Florida so although it is beautiful I think I enjoyed Florence more. M.

I definately favoured Florence to Rome and I hear Florence is a lot better than Naples.
