accomodation & places to visit

I and my husband are planning to visit europe and we would like to know if Luzern is a better place to stay in switzerland cost wise as well as location wise and what are all the places to visit in luzern. Which is the best low cost budget hotel in Luzern.

Luzern is not cheap, but it is spectacularly beautiful - - for a city - - indeed uniquely situated in a beautiful location, for a "true" city. Others who are big Switzerland fans will be able to rattle off many other small towns and villages that rival its beauty.

It's an excellent destination, but in general, Switzerland and budget don't exactly go together. I'm sorry I don't know about its budget hotels.

Best wishes,

Rex

topping... somebody must know (though you may need to re-post, and mention "budget accommodations in Luzern/Switzerland" in the message header).

http://www.frommers.com/destinations/lucerne/

Frommers lists 5 hotels in Lucerne/Luzern in their "inexpensive" category.

You could also take a look at the Destinations section on this site, and at some budget-oriented guidebooks.

Then type "hotelname AND luzern OR luzern" in the textbox at the top of this page. And/or "Lucerne OR luzern AND budget AND hotel"

I recall taking a small train up into the mountains with spectacular views and walking thru an ice cave - really neat. Also, having Swiss fondue at a lakeside restaurant - a must for me. Switzerland is expensive but beautiful.
