Accommodation in Verona?

Can anyone recommend a good bed and breakfast place in Verona. Preferably within easy walking distance to the arena. Thanks.

I haven't been there yet, but we're going to stay at Residenza Verona House in May. It's gotten great reviews on this board and others.

You don't mention a price range; Hotel Torcolo is a budget hotel that gets great reviews, right off Piazza Bra.

During our last stay in Verona, we stayed at the Hotel Mazzanti. We liked it very much.

Right around the corner from the Arena. Breakfast costs extra, but you can spend less at the corner cafe.

Hotel Armando, very close to the Arena. Not a B&B but a small hotel. Clean and friendly, not much English spoken if that matters to you. They serve breakfast in the dining room but we opted to walk down the street and take our breakfast at the bar/counter at a neighborhood cafe; cheaper and fun! We paid around US 70. for a large room with a bath about a year and a half ago. (The owner of the Torcolo suggested the Armando, as they were full.)

Thanks for all that info. I have contacted Il Torcolo, but they charge 130 euros, and we are paying in NZ dollars! I am trying to find something under 100 euros per night!

If you're going during Opera season (July-Aug) it will be very difficult to find something less than 100E near the Arena.

Hi junek,
We are staying at Hotel Mastino
in April for your price range. We have not stayed at this hotel before but it got a good writeup and it is in a good area and is a 3 star. We have stayed in Verona before and think the location of this hotel is great, just around the corner from the arena.

Do a search on venere and you will find lots of nice hotels in that area, only problem is they are starting to get booked up for the season.

Good luck

PS. Know how you feel with the NZ dollars, we have SA Rands, pretty much the same story!
